On the 28th of November 2004 Madison Square Garden Celebrated It's 125th Year

Madison Square Garden Arena is known as the home of champions, where all kinds of different weights in boxing title championships fights are held one time or another. Its the place where all the top boxers, reporters, prominent citizens and anyone who is anybody wants to be. Madison Square Gardens has been the home of some of the greatest boxing matches seen in boxing. In November of 2004 there were a total of eight of the world's best heavyweights boxers which became one of those Don King's spectacular arrangement that only he alone can put on. The first of Madison Square Garden Arenas was constructed 31st of May 1874. Madison Square Garden, is often abbreviated as MSG, and has been the name of four arenas in New York City. The first two were located at Madison Square, hence, the name. Subsequently a new 20,000-seat Garden is set to be built at 50th Street and 8th Avenue, and the current Garden is sited on top of Pennsylvania Station at 33rd Street and 7th Avenue. The present Garden is best known as the home of the New York Knicks and New York Rangers professional sports teams that play their home matches in the arena. It also hosts the Ringling Brothers.

Madison Square Gardens Attracted Trepidation and Pandemonium

Barnum and Bailey Circus when it comes to New York City and almost any other kind of indoor activity that draws large audiences, such as the 2004 Republican National Convention. MSG is also known for its place in the history of boxing. Many of boxing's most important fights were held at the Madison Square Garden, including many of Joe Louis, Roberto Duran, Ken Buchanan affair, and the first Joe Frazier-Muhammad Ali bout. Before promoters such as Don King and Bob Arum moved boxing to Las Vegas. Madison Square Garden was considered the Mecca of boxing. In its time the Madison Square was situated at 26th Street a building of structured with 28ft high walls and without a roof, has attracted trepidation and pandemonium. Madison Square Garden was the preferred place for a couple of circus masters; P.T. Barnum and his associate James Bailey who took their famous circus to New York City. There was horse shows in the early days and cycling, most notably and often the inclusion of dishonourably type boxing where Prize fighting was illegal in that time. It went under the semblance of demonstration in pugilistic lecturing. Bare-knuckled boxer John L Sullivan's illustration was pretty enough for him to become heavyweight champion there in 1882.

Madison Square Garden Was Considered The Mecca of Boxing

A couple of years later, John L. Sullivan was arrested during the second round of a bare-knuckled fight with a fighter by the name of Al Greenfield. John L. Sullivan was charged with fighting in a cruel and inhuman manner and corrupting public morals. The authorities was unaware of what was to follow in the name of the noble art of boxing soon after. Madison Square Garden arena had the first of its three refurbishments in the year of 1890. The old structure was knocked down and in its place came a splendid monument designed the master architectural skills of Stanford White. Stanford White built an 8,000 seat arena with a concert hall that seated 1,500, a posh theatre that seated 1,200 and as good measure Stanford White also constructed the world's largest indoor swimming pool then added a roof garden. While romancing one of his many lady frAli v Sonny iends on the roof gardens he was shot stone dead by a rival. One of the most most famous Garden of all was the third one built. It took only 249 days to be completed in 1925 and stood for 43 years and of course, there were fight fixes and nights of unembellished glory

The Quandaries of Capitalist Private Enterprises

But under the steadfast inspiration of promoter Tex Rickard, the pugilistic game of boxing blossomed and developed, bringing in crowds rushing to the Madison Square Arena to fill a capacity seating of 18,000 to see the likes of Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney, Joe Louis and any well thought of fighter who was of any worth in boxing. Promoter Tex Rickard died in 1929. Mike Jacobs took over his seat. Mike had the backing of famous writer, Damon Runyon among others. No one did more than Damon Runyon to build up the myth and magic of Madison Square Garden and the sport of the boxing industry. Damon Runyon was given support by the journalist AJ Liebling soon many others began to follow in their path and ending up in hilariously thunderous celebrations at the Toots Shor's, not too far away from the Madison Square Garden Arena. Eventually, sentiments gave way to reality, demands of currency in the city are more than any other city in the world personifies, the goods and the quandaries of capitalist private enterprises. Tons of tears flowed like running tributaries when the Old Garden, a name that has devotedly remained on the lips of New York natives. The Old Garden, as it is known as, was knocked down and trading found a new seat in New York's downtown area of Penn Station

Fight of the Century Was Held At the M S G Arena.

While being here we entered into the new era of a different breed of boxers ranging from Muhammad Ali to Joe Frazier, George Foreman and Ken Norton, all strong heavyweight rivals who illuminated the fight game after it had been dragged through sludge, muck and slime by the Carbo's and Palermo's of the Fifties. In the 1960's Brenner had taken his first promotion to Las Vegas, signalling the end of the Garden's dominance in boxing, but did not matter as there would still be great fights at the Madison Square Garden Arena most famous of all was the The Fight of the Century between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier Back in 1971, watch by boxing fans from from all over the world via Satellite.
