Oh! How, Nigel Benn Must Have Been Feeling Deep Down Inside.

In round ten, McClellan suddenly went down on one knee and the referee counted him the ten seconds to end the bout while Gerald McClellan was still on one knee. McClellan collapsed when he went back to his corner and the scene inside the ring was a berserk panorama, so much that Benn did not know what was happening until he was being interviewed by Showtime's commentator Dr. Ferdie Pacheco. McClellan was taken out on a stretcher and with an oxygen mask out of the ring, and he lost consciousness on his way to the hospital. He never recover consciousness for a for quite sometime. One could easily summarised that Nigel Benn battered two men in to retirement on that fateful night. Gerald McClellan, and sadly enough, Benn himself also. No. We will never know what may perhaps could have been. It had been stated that Nigel Benn spent all night in the emergency room while waiting for news of Gerald McClellan recovery his ring opponent on the night. The following morning, the McClellan family arrived in London and Nigel Benn was there by their side. Oh! How Nigel Benn must have been feeling deep down inside.

The Fight That Robbed Nigel Benn of His Fighting Spirits!

Nigel Benn vs. Gerald McClellen in EnglandIt's a feelings that not even Nigel Benn himself can ever elucidate. Gerald McClellan survived, but he has never recovered the sights of his eyes, he has been  blind ever since. Gerald McClellan was also paralyzed for a very long period of time. Only recently, he has now began to walk with the help of a bamboo cane. The following week after the fight, an article about the fight was published by Sports Illustrated. According to Nigel Benn's trainer, this fight took away all of Benn's fighting spirits from him. As in most cases, that has happened a number of times when a tragedy of this type happens to a boxer. Nigel Benn has never been the same exciting boxer he once was, again in his fights after the incident, just ordinary fights since. However, Benn retained his title by knocking out future world champion Vincenzo Niardiello, and then he won a non-title bout, but that turned out to be his last career win. In the aftermaths of the boxing match up with Gerald McClellan. Nigel Benn even gave the impression that he was dangerous enough to remind the great Roy Jones Jnr, why it would be a good idea to avoid him in the ring.

Roy Jones Would Constantly Site The Nightmare of the 25th February 1995

Roy Jones Jnr. was especially a good friend of Gerald McClellan, as luck would have it. After the tragedy Roy Jones Jnr. Roy Jones Jnr, began changing his boxing style to a less perilous, defense. Roy Jones Jnr. would constantly site the nightmare of the 25th February 1995 as his reason for not rushing in head first to obtain knockouts and why he wanted to make his money and get out of the business with with good health. In retrospect, Roy Jones Jnr. himself was never the same fighter being affected by the results of the Benn vs McClellan fight. Roy Jones Jnr. is not as effective as a fighter as he once was. Not only has the memory of the 25th February 1995 affected the fighters themselves, but their their families and boxing fans the world over, a memory that will live in the minds of all who witness the fight on the night of the 25th February 1995. Fortunately maybe of the cause and effect that has been, Nigel Benn is not forgotten by boxing fans and enthusiasts as they are aware of what the pugilistic sport entails. The fight  will linger on in the memory. Will that memory of the 25th September be forgotten?
