This Was the Shortest Fight On Record.

Boxing or pugilism was introduced into the ancient Olympics in 686 BC The boxers had headgear’s and used long leather wrapping to protect their hands. Strong and hard leather gloves replaced thongs, but the Romans, idea was Iron-studded gauntlet and metal spikes. Fights would last as many rounds as it takes until one of the fighters collapsed. In 1892 Harry Sharpe knocked out Frank Crosby in 77 rounds! In 1890 Danny Needham and Pat Kerrigan fought to a draw in 100 rounds. But the longest fight ever was in 1893 between Andy Bowen and jack Burke, which lasted for over 7 hours and went on for 110 rounds! The referee finally declared the bout no contest when both men were too tired and smashed-up to go on with the fight. It wasn't until the early 20th century that fights were limited to definite number of rounds and so stopping the endless boxing matches of the past. Those were the longest fights. The shortest boxing match was in 1946 between Al Couture and Ralph Walton was in combat in the ring. The shortest fight on record.

The Boxer Who Gave Himself a Knockout!

When the bell rang for the first round, Al Couture raced across the ring at high speed towards Walton but, Walton wasn't really ready as yet and was still putting in his mouthpiece when Couture knocked him cold in just 30 seconds of the fight, has yet to be been beaten. A world record that still stands today.  As we all know, boxing has its bizarre moments in history. Some say the craziest one of all was only a few years ago when in 1997 Mike Tyson bit off part of Evander Holyfield's ear, who later said that Yvonne Holyfield's ear tasted like chicken. But then some say it was in 1978 when Sugar Ray Leonard knocked out Tom Kelly who was the fight referee. Then there are those stories about the 1959 fight between Henry Wallitsch and Bartolo Soni which was definately the most bizarre of all times! This is what happened in the fight. The story states that Bartolo Soni kept running and dancing around the ring like a man on hot bricks in an effort to make Henry Wallitsch looked foolish. In the meantime Wallitsch couldn't landed a single punch, and he was getting frustrated, impatient and very angry.

A Bizarre Decision in Boxing by the Official Judges

By the third round Wallitsch got Soni in a clinch and saw his big chance. Henry Wallitsch wound up, and with every ounce of his being he threw his mighty punch at Soni using every ounce of his energy and....missed by a mile! The force of his own swing carried him across the ring and over the ropes. Wallitsch took a hard punch on the chin from the arena floor and ended up being landed in sports history as the only boxer ever give himself a knockout. On the 6th of November 1999 there was an occurrence of a bizarre moment involving boxer Hasim Rachman, the man who had knockout Lennox Lewis in a world championship title fight. Hasim Rachman was leading on points a boxing match with one Oleg Maskev's. In the last moments of the fight Oleg Maskev's came from behind to knockout Hasim Rahman in the first minute, thirty seconds of the eight round. It was one of the more bizarre moments in the history of boxing sports. Maskev's conjured a shattering power punch that sent Hasim Rachman flying through the ropes.

Rachman Crumpled Like a Wet Blanket!

Rahman's body crumpled like a wet blanket and as he his body slid out of the ring, his body took out a Computer monitor box. Few moments later a chair was slung at Hasim Rachman's crumpled body. All hell cut loose in the boxing stadium as several fist fights broke out amongst the spectators. In a12 round fight against Andrew Golota. Golota knocked John Ruiz was down twice. John Ruiz was penalised a point for hitting behind the head. Yeah! But, Ruiz had been knock down twice by Andrew Golota! Yet the judges gave the fight to John Ruiz enabling him to hold onto his heavyweight alpha-belt title. Can you believe it?. But worst was Ruiz' trainer, Norman Stone, ejected from Ruiz corner midway through the fight for his customary out of control bad behaviour. Norman Stone charged at Golota's trainer at the end of the round one, screaming incessantly at anyone and everyone, finally, he threw boxers hand tape at the referee.

Bizarre Boxing Moments in the 1988 Korean Olympics

In the 1988 Korean Olympics Byun Jong-il, in the Bantamweight division got a real hiding by Bulgaria's Alexander Hristov. Byun Jong-il lost points for head butting. The judges ruled in favour of the Bulgarian. Byun Jong-il had lost, and he had lost the fight real badly. Upset at the decision, Byun Jong-il sat down in the middle of the ring and staged a silent protest in which he sat motionless in the middle of the ring for 67 minutes.  Byun Jong-il eventually gave up after the the Korean officials turned off the hall lights and left him in darkness. The New Zealand referee of the match, Keith Walker, had to flee for his life from the Seoul Olympics the following day. The Koreans had expected him to give the verdict to the Korean boxer Byun Jong-il.

Boxing Fans Beat Up Paraglider

A strange boxing bizarre moment came on the 6th of November 1993, during the Evander Holyfield match with Riddick Bowe at Caesars Palace. The most memorable part of the  bout occurred when James "Fan Man" Miller swooped into the ring via motorized paraglider during the seventh round of the match. "Fan Man" Miller said he was protesting at what he saw as violence in spectator sports. The parachute he used was motorised, powered by a very large fan. The cords of his parachute got entangled in the overhead lights as he came down into the ring with one of his legs being caught in the top rope of the ring. The spectators dragged him to the ground and gave him a good beating.
